This is going to be the last update that I post before we actually start the gaming marathon on June 4th at 12 PM ET.  We have some things that you should know about and they are fairly important.

• That amazing Solid Snake Kirby is one of our new Auctions that you can win with the highest bid.  It was made for us by the extremely talented Jo Roberts of Eitanya and it is one of a kind, she will never make this again for anyone else!  So if you want it, you best be prepared to donate!  To get a full rundown of the auctions and raffles we have, please check out the Prizes page.
• Our friend Jimmy, @Drakmarth, raised $770 with his Secret Project B.A.L.D. and we capped off his baldness for 12 months.  His baldness started on June 1st and we have pictures of the awesomeness!

• We have even more prizes that have come in than we know what to do with.  Some are being pushed back to another event but we have added considerable amount of prizes to the prize packs.  All it takes is a $5 donation, a tweet on Twitter, or liking us on Facebook.  Not too much to ask!
• We have the full Gross Japanese Candy List which will unlock at $3500 donated to Child’s Play.  I’m gagging just thinking about it.
• As announced on the g33kWatch Podcast, we were lucky enough to have Two Video Game Consoles (Playstation 1 & Sega Genesis) that both still work, that are signed by everyone at the Penny Arcade offices.  One is being offered as an auction, and the other one a raffle.  So you can grab a super unique, mega geeky item anyway you prefer!

It’s almost time for the Slumber Party! If you are new to the website, then you should read about what we are all about on the right hand side in the … ABOUT sidebar. We are very clever here we know.  =)

For those of you who have been with us since the beginning though, amazing support. We want to thank everyone for getting us to $3,000 donated to Child’s Play Charity.  When we first organized what the Slumber Party was going to be, we just wanted to play some games that our whole team could enjoy, and let it be a small and easy marathon.  We still remember getting our first batch of donations and having about $100 and thinking “Well this has already become a success!”  So if that was a success, this type of success that we have right now could only be described as full blown.

Very important note is that we would like to thank each and every person that helped us out for our Tech Day.  We really appreciate your help, your patience, and all of your suggestions.  This time around we had some issues with some of the upgrades that we were trying to make so it was very stressful for us to figure out what we had to do, and we really couldn’t have gotten through it without each and every one of you.  It was stressful and we felt bad that the stream kept going up and down, but then again that is what a Tech Day is for.  Thanks again and we are ready to give show you an amazing time during the actual event!

Now some small housekeeping items.

• NBA Jam Tournament voting for Joey V has ended.  Thanks to your wonderful voting we have determined that Joey will be using the New Orleans Hornets during the tournament and will be wearing a custom made Hornets jersey.  The name and number?  Shepard #7.  Remember that if you sponsor the winning player of the NBA Jam tournament you can win a really awesome Mario Cross Stitch.

  

• Jimmy has earned a ton of money.  Starting June 1st he will be shaving his head and keeping it baldy bald for a total of 12 months.  We capped it at one year because damn people you are awesome and really want him bald.  We will show you pictures during the event on what he looks like and will give you full coverage on the g33kWatch website.

$1705 donated to Child’s Play Charity with 30 days left before the knuckles hit the controllers.  All of you fine donors are amazing people and you should all feel really great about yourselves.  Because you are all so awesome, and to continue to entice new donors to give to such a wonderful charity, allow me to tell you about Secret Project B.A.L.D.

This idea involves and was conceptualized by our good friend Jimmy aka Drakmarth who wants you to donate to the 24-Hour Slumber Party and wants you to sponsor him as a player.  While he lives across the pond, for every $50 you donate to Child’s Play in Jimmy’s name, he will shave his head and keep himself bald for a month.  So if Jimmy gets sponsored for $200 he will have to be bald for 4 Months.  That is some serious business, and something that will be well documented with pictures and videos on the g33kWatch website.

If you have any questions feel free to hit up his Twitter feed, or you can check out his entry at the bottom of the Players page.  Please Donate a lot in his name, in fact make sure that Jimmy wins Player Sponsorship.  I want him to be bald for PAX East a year from now so that I can make fun of him and rub his silly head.

Next up on the docket, is a bit more information about NBA Jam.  When we originally blocked out NBA Jam, we gave it two hours.  What we found out rather quickly though is that an average NBA Jam game takes about 12 minutes to complete.  If we were to just casually play the game for two hours, it may get a bit boring.  We thought about some alternatives and have come up with the following … we are making that two hour block a NBA Jam tournament.

We will have 8 players in it, they will each choose one NBA team that they will represent, and we will go through a single elimination bracket structure until we have crowned the Slumber Party NBA Champion!  To sweeten the pot though, we are making this worthwhile to you, the viewership.  During the NBA Jam gaming block (6 PM – 8 PM ET), we encourage you to sponsor the player who you think will win the entire tournament.  When we have a champion, that player will be able to award this awesome, framed Mario themed Cross-Stitch to the sponsor of his or her choice!

All we ask is that you make it a minimum donation of $1 so that PayPal doesn’t eat up the entire donation with fees.  That’s all there is to it!

Finally just for fun, our own Joey V will be procuring a custom NBA Jersey for the team that he will be playing during the NBA Jam Tournament.  Best part is, you get to choose his team and what last name he uses on the jersey!  So fill out the poll below so that he knows what to get.

Finally we are happy to announce the following … announcements.

• Full Prize Schedule is done.  We promised you a raffle every hour on the hour and we held our end of the bargain.  We also have three auctions so keep donating and spreading the word to get more raffle entries!
• Full Schedule has also been done.  This goes over what games we are playing, along with what events will be happening at what time.  We have a lot of things to get to, so we hope that you’ll stick with us for the full 24 hours and watch us embarrass ourselves over and over again.
• Our Donors page has been updated with more sponsors being listed.  We really appreciate all of the fantastic work and trust that these companies have shown to us.  They allow us to have amazing prizes to entice you to donate to Child’s Play, so please be sure to support them if you can.
• We have a ton of other prizes that we will be giving away randomly as we go along.  Pay attention to this website and also keep watching our livecast for more details.

No matter how many times it happens, I am always amazed, excited and moved by just how generous the community can be.  In just about one week, all of you fine ladies and gentlemen out there raised a ton of money and got us more than half way to our goal of $2,000.  This is before any webcasts have been setup, any controllers plugged in, or any actual games have been played.  You are donating of course for the children who need it most, and for that we thank you.  What we can promise in return, is nothing but our best entertainment possible.  We’ll make you laugh on June 4th, I absolutely promise.

Now, onto some housekeeping news.  We are happy to report that we have even more Prizes that we can actually talk about (even more are coming!).  Even more exciting, is that we have given you yet another way to get a raffle entry and potentially win some fantastic prizes for support the Child’s Play Charity.  Receive 1 raffle entry for printing out the Slumber Party Flyer, posting it somewhere it will be noticed (School, Office, Street Lamp), and then take a picture of you next to it and e-mail it to info@g33kwatch.com with the subject “Slumber Party Flyer”.  That’s all you need to do, we’ll handle the rest!

In addition to the 1 free raffle entry, the most creative / funny / eye-catching picture that we get, that person will receive a mystery prize as well!  Totally worth it if you ask me.  You get to think of fun ways to spread the word for the 24-Hour Slumber Party, you encourage people to come here and possibly donate to a great cause like Child’s Play, and you get free raffle entries to potentially win prizes!  We know that not everyone can donate, so we have given you ways to get up to 3 free raffle entries and we certainly hope you take advantage of them.  Without people going out there to spread the word, we wouldn’t be nearly as successful.

Finally, allow me to give you a sneak peak behind the curtain and tell you about a new feature that we are introducing for the 24-Hour Slumber Party.  Obviously we created the Player Sponsorship function and that has been wildly successful.  This next feature is something that we hope raises close to no money, but probably will raise a lot.  I know, that last statement sounds confusing, but on June 4th we will be instituting The Swear Jar for all g33kWatch staff members and players.

Think back to all of the party games you have played in the past.  When you are playing multiplayer games, it gets competitive, and it’s only natural that sometimes people swear.  Well, every time one of us swears during the marathon, we will be forced to put $0.25 into The Swear Jar.  Doesn’t seem like much, but sometimes we mess up and let a swear a lot without even thinking about it.  Hopefully this will make a funnier marathon for you to watch, generate some more donations for Child’s Play, and cut down on the cussing.

If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times; the best way to help us to spread the word to everyone you know.  The more people know about this marathon, the more likely that we’ll get someone to donate to such a worthy cause.

With that in mind, we have made our fancy new flyer that we will be handing out wherever we can!  We’ll be doing it, and we encourage you to do the same.  Post it on the bulletin board at your office cafeteria, put it in the window at the local GameStop, go visit your grandmother and give it to her personally … you know whatever you feel comfortable with.

We are happy to announce that the game Schedule has been set!  So please head on over there and see when your favorite games are going to be played by g33kWatch on June 4 and 5!  As time goes on, we will also be putting up when certain events will be happening, along with raffles and auctions.  The Schedule page will become your friend from now until the marathon so keep checking back.

Finally, you may notice that on our schedule, we have a Secret Game being played from 5 AM to 7 AM ET on June 5th.  During that game, the g33kWatch girls will be doing some Yoga stretches and relaxation techniques for the first hour.  Would you like to know what the Secret Game will be?  Well, that is entirely dependent on you spreading the word and getting donations in here!

Over the next few weeks, we will slowly bring the box art above back into focus, but how much we do it is all up to you!  For every $50 we raise for Child’s Play, we’ll slowly fix the image above.  So spread the word and tell people to donate to a wonderful cause.  Otherwise … the mystery might drive you mad! =)

This past weekend g33kWatch scientists got their test tubes and Bunsen burners out to determine what was going to be happening with the Slumber Party in June.  The results, have been nothing short of astounding.

Originally pegged to be only 6, the number of Games we are now playing has expanded to well over 12!  What does this mean for you, the consumer?  It means more hijinks and a whole lot more fun to be had!

In addition to that, we have started the process of procuring Prizes for our raffles and auctions and we are happy to announce that we have the help of ThinkGeek once again to provide us with our grand prize raffle … a Tauntaun sleeping bag!  How can you win such an amazing piece of geekery?  Why by donating to Child’s Play Charity through our donation widget on the side!

Speaking of Donations, be on the look out as we are currently building our own custom donation script that will make things easier, give the site instant updates on when donation levels have been reached, and will also give you the ability to sponsor specific players during the festivities.  Oh yeah, and we updated the Players page so that you know who you are sponsoring.  More players will be added in the coming weeks as we verify schedules.

Best thing you can do now?  Keep spreading the word so that everyone can partake in the ludicrousness of this fantastic event.  A great way to do that is to share the event time and date with your friends on Facebook.  We have create a public Facebook Event that will help you accomplish that goal.

g33kWatch the same team that brought you the Mass Effect Marathon, are pleased to announce the first annual 24-Hour Slumber Party that will benefit Child’s Play Charity.  This event will take place June 4, 2011 @ 12:00 PM ET.

For 24 hours straight, the g33kWatch boys and girls will be playing a wide variety of fun party games live on the internet.  Viewers are encouraged to participate throughout the entire marathon by asking questions, making requests, or sponsoring specific players!

For now the site is currently undergoing renovations so keep checking back for the latest updates.  The best thing you can do now, is to help spread the word and get excited for tons of party games and helping out the children!  =)
